Good Evening. as the subject line indicates. . . .I JUST bought a 2001 R* with 7K miles. . .awesome bike. No owners manual. .if anybody can tell me where to get one on line. . .I'm not past going to a dealer but would prefer one in PDF format. 1602 is biggest bike I've ever riden and it is a blast. I currently have two. . . .a 650 V-Star classic then this brute. I found this site after the purchase cause, for the life of me, could not figure out how to get the dang rider seat off!! Previous owner got a call on that one but once he told me, I was rather embarassed. NOW for the important question. . .will 4 QTS of Mobile 1 fill this thing up. . .AND from what I read, I don't MAX it just "somewhere around the middle" . . . It appears that the "Recall" needs done. . .any dealer correct?? Just like a car. . .and I'm sure I'll have a bunch more questions. . . .so be GENTLE with me! I could be your granddaddy  well maybe some of you. I'm retired military (U. S. Coast Guard no jokes from the Navy folks.. I bailed you guys out a couple of times. . .if you were there, you know what I'm talking about. . if you weren't you don't want to know!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. . . .I live about 50 miles east of St. Louis MO in a small town. .and the riding is great out here. . .cept for the "Oil and Chat" roads! If you think I need to know something. . please don't assume I already do. I'd rather get it 100 times than to not get it at all.. . Again, thanks for having this site Oh and someone might just want to post how to 'Just pop the seat off' for the next new guy. Did I mention this is a great site. . .a plethra of knowledge. . .

TVoso Your not the only one that has had that seat problem.  No telling how many treads are on here about that and OIL. Yes 4 quarts only no more than that or you'll get SVS. |
