Took my better half out for a little ride this morning before the temps reached 100+ today, taking a nice country road for a few miles. Came up on a gravel road that I didn't feel like challenging today, so I shifted to 1st and began my u-turn left. Except I wasn't in 1st, I was in neutral. I realized too late the scoot was slowing down instead of maintaining speed, and leaning too far.
My wife jumped off just before my bike and I went down, so she was okay, thank goodness. I scraped my trick knee up a little and twisted my back. The Cobra fatty highway bar saved my leg. The scoot rested on the bar and the
Kury offset, twisting the peg towards the inside too close to the shifter, which I corrected with a wrench I carry in one of the bags with my other tools. The only damage to the bike was a little chunk taken out of the passenger floorboard aluminum, nothing else. One lucky son-of-a-gun. The bike was still running when it went down, since it was in neutral. It didn't sound too good running like that, so I jumped back up and hit the kill switch pronto.
We were both wearing helmets and boots, but no jackets. Glad to be here to tell the tale.
