using models to design my bike 3 Months, 1 Week ago
I struggle to visualize some things in particular color for my bike. So I went and bought a half dozen Revell chopper model kits for about $15 a piece. I am building each model with different wheels and tanks and most importantly colors to see how they look and interact. You can get truly amazing colors in small spray cans to use and test. Beauty is all the pieces on the models interchange so you can mix and match to get what you want. One of them already gave me a great idea for my rear fender. Another I de-chromed the included oil tank and painted it so its like our side covers, changes the whole look of the bike. Also shot one frame with trim black instead of gloss, looks real interesting. Of course they are HD based ( )but its been interesting playing with them. They are not even close to my bike but they are allowing me to visualize some changes much easier.
Thought I'd pass a long a "design" tip. Its a whole lot cheaper than painting my bike and then not liking it!

Ultrastar.....I planned once I got to the color and style I liked to get one of the Roadie models and do it as close as I could to my finished idea and see how it looked.
That model for the Roadie is priced like its an HD!

Oh by the way, my Black Cherry and your color got me on the trail of trying to get somewhere between the two. I do love candy colors and also have a fondness for metalflake (big flake) so who knows what I'll come up with.
