Do you prefer... 2 Years, 9 Months ago
a fairing with or without a radio? I have looked at getting the wide open custom with the radio but recently have found the memphis shades fairing. I read the article that one guy had written but the farther I read it looks like the wrong fairing was sent. I am not worried about it not fitting as long as they send the correct fairing and mounting bracket. I have never ridden a motorcycle with a radio. I was just wondering what route the majority of people on here would go. Would you spend the extra money on the wide open custom just to have the radio or just go with the memphis shades fairing which is about half the price?

Thanks,
Michael

Can you get the fairing now and add the radio later? That way, you can spread your money out a little...

Well I actually RIDE! So just the fairing is my choice, I park where i land and sometimes that might be somewhere that a radio might like disappear, and in Ohio winter ain't too cool on a radio or other stuff found in a faring. Plus the price. If I hit oil from a rubbish truck again, I'm only out $400 Make that like $750 to 3K $$$$ with the works fairing.

Now, someone at the Lake of the ozarks had a set of speakers made for a bike with one monster of an amp and sound. buy the Memphis Shades batwing and add that Speaker system and you have it all. Cheap! The speakers play anything you can plug a headset into. Ipod, Zune, Radio, Whatever.

I'm the one that got the wrong fairing. I was involved in the order process and it's the way they have it listed so it's an easy mistake that possibly can't even be helped. When we pushed all the buttons for RS that's what it spit out. So something is out of whack some where as far as part numbers.

I'll love my Batwing when I get the right one.

And heck, we have RSC built in support right Steve?

I think it comes down to what you want not what anyone else says. I love music and MS1700 will tell you it is on more than off. Schatzie has poke him a few times to hear the tunes

I have a security system and removable face I wanted to do it my self. FLH I wanted what I wanted gauges and speakers and radio. It works for me. I enjoy the ride my way just like I enjoy my bike set to my likings.

IMHO

I'm in the same spot right now. I have been looking at the Wide Open since it came out. It's actually a good very price comparatively. When the MS Batwing came out I started looking at that, $335 on ebay! Figured I would add a radio later. However now I am waiting to hear what happens with MS1700 story. Wasn't a good thing to read when you are thinking about buying one. I'll wait and see how that pans out for him.

The MS story should have a happy ending. Since MS has made a mount and Batwing specifically for the RS but somehow people are still getting a New Mount and an old HD fairing. Once I get the new Fairing for the new Mount I should be good.

I might add I wasn't the first one to have the problem, but had the first people posted like I did, I would have been able to proceed with part numbers instead of going by the Web Sites offering's.

Posting a screw up is sometimes just as informative as posting a accomplishment. Hope no one else makes the same mistake. Love the Mounts, Love the quick release for cleaning, And Monday I'll love the Fairing that fits. Now Order up!

I just did not like giving up my HD lowers as the Windshield mount that used to hold them must be removed when you install the MS mount. Shucks! I'm not into crafting another way to mount them.

Really??
Well I actually ride also with over 68,000 miles on my bike and I love listening to music when we are rolling down the road. It all comes down to your personal choice. If you are into listening to music like my wife & I are then get the fairing with stereo, if your a take it or leave it kind of person then just go with the fairing. If I were you I would buy a fairing that a stereo can be installed at a later date. Most of these guys charge to much for the stereo systems they put into the fairings and you can add one yourself later.

That's what I like about this country. Freedom of choice!!!!

I look at it like this some guys will say that windshields suck. Most have not been behind one, but if they have more power to them. Some people are allergic to bees owwww owwww me still would have a fairing. Some people like music some people like the wind some like both. Personal preferences are as individual as our bikes

I was listening to my MP3 player for a while, and decided to ditch it in favor just listening to the sweet rumble of the Filthy Sow. What's cool about the fairing with the radio in it, is that if you choose to listen to music, you have the option of doing so.
