Re-Jetting the carb 2 Years, 9 Months ago
Is this something I can do myself or does it need to be done by a mechanic and hooked up on the dyno?

You can do it yourself. First why do you want to rejet? If you haven't added an air intake or changed something it isn't necessary to rejet unless it is running bad. Second do you have a good jet kit?

I agree ... your profile says your bike is stock so leave it alone.

I had asked this same question earlier in my thread about Slip On's verses New Exhaust System and nobody answered it. So I started another thread. I will be putting a new exhaust on, probably the Cobra
Big Shots and did not know if this was a project I could take on completely on my own or if I needed the bike hooked up to a Dyno machine.

Just slip-ons. Then you won't need to re-jet. Only if you change pipes/slip-ons AND air filter to a BAK.

I am going to change to a new Cobra Exhaust system. Can I do the re-jet?

Yes you can do a re-jet without a Dyna ... it's fairly straightforward.

No you don't need to do a re-jet when you change out only the pipes.

Depending on what you want from your bike (more power, mileage, appearance changes, etc.) some would "argue" both sides strongly. Mine is still stock, with after market pipes and it runs fine. Thinking about a re-jet this winter but I'm still undecided. Have other things I want to do first. Your bike, your call.

In vain do the men of science attempt to demystify the art we refer to as "Jetting" Only Curt knows it forwards, backwards, blindfolded and can do it with his thumbs tied behind his back while sipping a beer through a straw and eating a rack of ribs at the same time.

Translation, It's something everyone can do once you read up on it, have the tools, parts and work area and enough patience to rip into it over and over and over again ~ a test ride between each tweak, A Max Air Adjustable PMS is helpful I might add. Basically, the more you do it, the more you can do it, that's why Like Doc, Musky, Curt and the like can figure out off the top of their heads what the heck you need to do, but only after they ask you no less than 27 questions.

Got that?

Now go to it! The anticipation can only be exceeded by the actual event! And er ahhhh Read my tag line!

Shouldn't have to re=jet for pipes only. You might only need to make adjustment to PMS (pilot main screw) You'll more than likely need to remove the AIS to avoid excessive decel popping. Some popping is normal though too, more so when decel from a high rate of speed. You are also better off with a full exhaust vs slip-ons. seems slip-ons will cause more issues with decel popping.
