Improving comfort on stock pillion seat. 2 Years, 9 Months ago
My girl complains (and rightfully so) that the stock passenger seat is very uncomfortable on longer rides. I've seen a few possible solutions, but wanted to ask if any of you have found a comfortable solution.

I think it's a combo of the size of the stock seat, as well as the padding density. Lets face it, if WE had to ride on that seat instead of our "big saddle", we'ed probably be bitchin' a bit too!

Thanks / Mick

My vote would be for the Ultimate, since I have one, but Mustang isn't a bad choice either. I've heard of folks who liked/didn't like Mustang, and the same for Ultimate. I've had mine for a couple of years and wouldn't give it up.

You can always ask local and have them make one. They can actually make it for her bum. It also seem to be critical to have a proper angled and padded back rest. Any seat you have needs milage to brake in IMHO. I don't think you would go wrong with a good seat shop.

My wife had the same complaint. Its best to go with a touring set up but if you want to keep the same seat look I can rebuild her seat and make it approximately 1" wider without changing the look. Making it wider moves the outside edge pressure point farther down her thigh and creates a larger sitting area to distribute her weight on, thus reducung pressure.
Here is a picture of a stock Yami pillion 1" wider.
