I also have trouble with no fuel pump. Mine runs great with a full tank but after about a gallon it starves for fuel. I have the suzuki needle and seat, and an aftermarket tank with a vented cap. I am using a Mikuni vacuum fuel pump and that has helped allot. It is small, and easy to hide, and only cost $23. Easy mod. Try going pumpless, if you don't like it, put it back on.

I've been pumpless for over two years now & no problem. Got the larger needle valve & seat, vented the gas cap, trimmed 1/2" off the intake tube and one inline filter from NAPA between stock petcock & the carb. Mine needs to go to reserve after somewhere between 150-170 miles. Love it!

went pumpless do to constant problems with the pump put the suzuki needle and seat in, ran fuel line under the manifold, vented the cap, lost the carb filter went to an inline between the stock petcock and carb, havent as yet trimmed the tube though did a little rejetting work and she runs like a rabid a$$ ape. no problems in any part of the tank or at any elevation that ive been in (mostly high). imo is very nice to have one less thing to go wrong and runs beautifully one of the best things ive done yet working on figuring out weather or not i need to trim the tube at the moment still undecided there.

Removed the pump, did all of the mods, valve seat - fuel cap - filter, and had fuel starving problems when running over 70-80 with less than half a tank of gas. It happened several times, once when passing cars on a two lane. That was the last time.

Moved the pump to under the right side cover, choke knob on left side tank bolt. No ugly fuel pump showing and no fuel starving.

Ok. I've read the tech topic several times. But in the tech topic, It states to change the seat, but it doesn't mention a new needle. My question is: Whoever had problems with going pumpless, did you replace the needle as well? Did anyone have problems the replaced the needle?
