while i've never ridden the dragon, after talking w/ friends who have, I've got no desire to. Too many idiots riding WAY over their heads & taking out others w/ them. IMHO, check out S.E. Ohio. IE rt 78, the triple nickel(rt555) . Great roads, little traffic, & cheap places to sleep.Just my $.02

At our Spring Fling we have to do that road, hope we do more riding than this year. That one ride was kinda lame, the ride towards home with our group was better. That part of Ohio is great. In my truck going around some of those curves..... I can see my tail lights!

Suggestion- get a place to stay in an off the way area; Townsend TN. Several motorcycle friendly places there. One that comes to mind- TalleyHo Inn is very clean (I own a place behind the hotel). Ride the FootHills PrkWY over to 129 and hit the dragon that way. Several other neat (and better) rides. Cherohalla Skyway, Blueridge Prkway. Hope this helps and have a great time!!

Stay at www.stayriveredge.com and get a "camping cabin" they're 38 bucks a night and get the job done and you can park your bike right in front of the cabin pretty much on the porch. I've stayed at this place many times and we're doing the same trip as you the end of Sep..25th, ride the tail the 26th and home the 27th and my brother is coming from Columbis OH. I've rode the tail before...its alot of hipe but its worth the trip to say you've rode it I think.

Also, if you stay at Rivers Edge, you can pull out of the parking lot turn left and heres a nice route to ride...takes about 5-6 hours and a stop at Harrahs...lol

441 from Pigeon Forge to Cherokee(thru Gatlinburg)
19 and 74 from Cherokee to 28 (Stechoah)SP??
28 to 129 ( right onto 129)
129 thru the Dragon to the Foothills Pkwy.
Foothills Pkwy to hwy 321.
Right on 321 to Wears Valley Rd..
Left onto Wears Valley Rd back to Pigeon Forge.

Irondude, how are ya?

If 555 isn't enough, we can make a late night ride to 666. (midget zombie clowns......)

I rode US666 in SE Utah/SW Colorado last summer. No devils, no midget zombie clowns, no nothing! I was hoping I could at least have a chance at running over a black cat, but unfortunately not.

Oops....back on topic. Hey Louie....I'd recommend setting yourself up with a Bike-cam before you go. The Dragon makes for an awesome bike video!

Its reputation is bigger than its bite. Take your time and enjoy the ride. Ride the the white line when possible. It give more room for the on coming bikes and cars that stray over the yellow line. Do not let anyone push you. ride it at your pace. It is as easy or hard as you want to make it. Be safe and have fun.
