Best way to sell a Roadie 2 Years, 9 Months ago

I have a 2001 Roadie to sell. Is cycletrader.com the best place to do this? Do you guys have any tips for sites/methods to sell?
Also, is it customary to let someone test ride a bike?
Dave.

I'd place an ad in the classifieds on this forum, and in the Want to Sell section at the RSR forum. You might also consider www.craigslist.com. I've always had potential buyers try the bike first. I've always accepted cash only.

Ton's of places to advertise it. Any form, including this one, Road Star Riders Forum, Delphi Watch. E-bay, your local paper, some dealers will help you resell it (for a commission). Tell friends, people you work with, anyone who has ever said "Nice bike" and so on.
I wouldn't buy a bike without riding it first, would you?

I will let them test ride a bike IF they have a cycle endorsed drivers license. If you don't have coverage on it,(insurance) get them to sign something stating they'll buy the bike at your requested price and relieve you of all liability if they get into a wreck. Or don't let them test drive it.

Thanks for the responses guys.
I posted it on CycleTrader, Craig's List, and on this site. Here is the add -

Thaks Papa. So is yours...
I love the scoot but we are gearing up for a long distance cross-country move. I need to offload a few items (bike, boat, etc.). Once we get relocated, I will pick up another bike. Most likely a RoadLiner or a RoadKing Classic.

If your wanting a quick sell, and you have a low price, craigslist is the way to go. Actually I would do craigslist anyways. I've bought and sold a bunch on there and I have had good luck. If you have time, and want to spend the money, cycle trader or ebay could be good. Personally I rarely shop on these 2 due to the enormous amount of crap on them when I searching for something specific. As far as a test ride. Endorsee's only. Cash in hand only. If someone comes to look at it and rides down the street and lays it down, and you don't have cash in your hand, your stuck. Unless you like a possible street fight and force him to pay up. (lol). Even then, it may be considered assault and robbery if the damage is less than the cash you beat his ass for.

I vote ebay. I bought a roadstar a few years ago for a good deal too good to pass. I realized didn't have money for taxes so I put i ton ebay before the 30 days and made $1,100 without even making a payment.
