I have a complaint about this site! 2 Years, 8 Months ago
|
|
Sorry, I am new here, maybe I should wait six months before complaining?
Anyhow, there are some fantastic bikes posted here, but most if not all are crummy tiny little pics. Geeze, my phone shows better pics than this site. So please, when you post a pic of your bike, also post a real hyperlink to a decent (1024x720 or better) pic. Now take for instance, this post:
http://roadstarclinic.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,187/func,view/id,154135/catid,57/limit,10/limitstart,100/
with 2 pics from sleekmr3. Not only are the pictures too small, they are being all distorted. All you have to do is just cut and paste the link where the real picture is, and paste it into your message. If you want to be extra nice, put the url /url (in square brackets) on the front and the end. Going back to sleekmr3's post, this is what it would look like:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2445/3825220122_78ec26ed38_b.jpg which we can cut and paste into our browser. In theory, you should put the url /url (in square brackets) around it, but even if you don't, this site still figures out that it is a link and makes it a hyperlink we can click on.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2445/3825220122_78ec26ed38_b.jpg
Doesn't that look 100x better!
Please, post real links to real pictures so we can really see how nice your bike looks!
thanks
Kurt

Thanks for your comments ...
... and the link to the thread as some of the pics in that thread were too large (1000 pixels) .. I have fixed them.
As you should know, sig pics are limited to 450 pixels and 50 KB. At the moment, pics within a post are limited to a loose standard of around 600 pixels. My standard is that if I have to scroll horizontally on my 17" monitor (at work ) to view the pic, then the pic is edited. These values arose over the years and is a response to keeping the thread 'readable' for all and the site useable by folks who have dialup.
Your suggestion is a good one .... have a link to an off-site pic ... and I would encourage folks to use this method if they want to show off details on their bikes. Please remember though, you seem to understand and are able to use the pic editing and site coding tools effectivley ... other folks have developed their own websites ; however, there are a large number of memebers who do not have these skills.

I'm curious, and I'm not trying to be snide... but does anyone still use dial-up anymore? I mean, really... I don't know a soul that still uses dial-up, or has for several years now.
Maybe our third-world members still do....
If it's okay to ask... Hey everyone, does anyone here even use dial-up anymore???

I build, design, sell and install computers, and believe me in rural areas, there are still tons of people using dial up or are on slow satellite feeds. It will be a while before dial up is gone.

I guess i am third world because I can't afford anything besides dial up. Living in the country might be part of it, the other part is the frigging cost

I had dial-up until about a year ago. The only reason I don't now is because work is still pretty steady, if it wasn't I'd be back on it. Hughes net is the only reason I have high speed, but if works slows down it'll be the first thing to go. Hughes Net is very pricey around $80 a month, dial up is cheep $15 a month. I'm not in a third world country, I'm 3 miles out of town. It's called God's country

GOOD NEWS, there is hope for all of you on dial up! According to Microsoft & Google, there is a deal in the works for them to buy up all the analog TV frequencies and will be using it for FREE high speed internet. This should be in the works soon.
So all of you who bought a contract for the "Air cards" or cell phone wireless, you will be paying monthly for something that will be FREE. Sorry! Google it!
