saddlebag reflector removal 2 Years, 8 Months ago
I've removed the badges from my 07 midnight Roadie and went to take off those butt-ugly reflectors on the saddlebags but can't get them off. I tried the hairdryer/ fishing line trick, but it seems as if they are more than just glued on .
Does anyone know how they are attached and the best way to pop them off

thanks
cruz

check inside the saddlebag. I THINK they screw on ( the reflector ). There might be a nut inside holding it together.

I know mine was loose one day and I twisted the reflector and it tightened up.....

Hope this helps......

The reflector has a threaded stud on the back and it goes through the leather and a Kydex reinforcing tab inside the bag. I put LED running lights in place of the reflectors on my 03 Silverado LE.

I was lucky. My dealership never put them on.

oops my bad ! sorry I forgot to mention that theses are hardbags and there is not a bolt or screw that is on the inside of the bag, it is smooth. The reflector is attached on the outside of the bag somehow

They are attached with some 2 sided foam adheasive from hell. I used a small heat gun from a craft store. Kinda melted the reflectors a little, but they eventually did come off with heat and fishing line. Then it took 2 hrs with goo gone to get the crap off the bags. Be careful or you will scratch the bags, let the goo gone or whatever you use soak in well.

Thanks, I was hoping it was just an adhesive holding it and not a snap or something that would make it impossible to get off.
Back to the heat and fishing line agian LOL

These were the first things I took off of the bike, along with the fork reflectors. I have the soft bags. I found some conchos on eBay to fill the holes.

Re:saddlebag reflector removal 2 Years, 8 Months ago
I used a knife wrapped with a t-shirt and worked it back and forth, up and down, etc. Be careful not to scratch the bags, and then use some adhesive remover to get the residue off. Mine came off fairly easily. I didn't have to use a heat gun.

The bags do look much better without them. Besides, by putting the reflectors on the hardbags, there's no reflector on the license plate/turn signal assembly (which don't look as easy to remove cleanly).

Good luck!
