12" Mini-apes on 4" risers = ~ 15" total.

I have always really like the look of the apes, but at the same time wondered about comfort on long rides and handling at any speed, with all the talk here it has really got me to thinking about it but still a little weary bout that much time and money if it don't work out for me, I am only 5'7" and this morning kicked my standard bars as far up as I could and took a short ride and the handling was so much nicer, still on the fence of going to high and still not sure of comfort on the long rides. Any input from you ape guys?!?!?!?

Any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: I SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY. John F. Kennedy Aug. 1963

I was in the same boat, unsure if apes were for me. Just do it. I spent $50 on the bars and $130 or so on the cables and doing the work myself (and I have no clue what I am doing, just following clinic advice and taking it real slow). I'd spring for the the beefier bars 1 1/4 " looks great but you'll pay a little more. I can't say anything about the ride yet but I'm sure others will chime in. The testimony from the clinic folks sold me as far as taking a chance on comfort, I know they would lead anyone astray...

I still have my Beach Bars hanging on the wall. I don't think they'll ever make it back on the bike...

15" bars are real comfortable @ 5'6".
