Help! ACC (Head Trip) or Daytona Carbon Fiber 2 Years, 8 Months ago
I'd appreciate anyones input on this. I'm in the market for a new carbon fiber DOT 1/2 helmet. I've been looking around and have narrowed it down to two. An Advanced Carbon Composites Extended 1/2 from www.carbonfiberhelmets.com or a Daytona Helmets Skull Cap from www.helmetsrus.com. I've read good reviews on both and wanted to know if anyone had tried one or the other or even both? $150-$190 isn't cheap for a helmet, but I understand both safety and comfort come with a price. I just don't want to make the wrong investment.

Thanks to all for your advise. Especially those "Seasoned Vets" on this board that field similar questions day after day and don't belittle us "Fresh Boarders".

carbonfiber head trip I have the polo style and like it very light as helmets go. Customer service is great and they know their product. Might want to check their dealers might be the same helmet your pondering.

I have a Daytona Skullcap. It is OK for a DOT 1/2 helmet, not too huge. What size do you wear?

Have you checked out the Bell Drifter? I'm thinking of getting one of these. The cloth covered ones are kind of different from everybody else.

They look pretty cool. I may have to add one of those to my Christmas list. I'm leaning toward the carbonfiber.com one, this time around. $185, but most who have them really think they are worth the money.

Thanks Paul!

Great helmet....fits good with decent airflow to keep the head cool. And like the goggle strap on the back.

I'm looking at the Carbormfiber as well. . .but if you're Military. .they both give discounts!! Carbonfiber is 10% but Daytona didn't say just that they do. . . .

I'm a big Daytona fan. I ordered the ACC and just didn't like it. So, I sent it back. They do have great customer service. However, I just couldn't get past the non-existent liner. A couple of cheap bicycle type helmet pads turned me off. (And I normally wear a brain bucket.)
