ok I was wondering on the stock hardbags if you cut them in half and made them wider if it was possible with fiberglass or has anyone done this to give the bike a fatter look?

You could do this but, imagine sawing them half and then you would have to build in a fiberglass piece in that area. Then to make it rigid again you would need to wrap the whole saddle bag both inside & out with fiberglass matte & resin. It would be a lot of work but yes it could be done.

.... and you new bags would be super heavy 'cause you going to have to have quite a thick layer. The new glass will not hold well to the old cured glass.

for starters..they are not fiberglass..they are plastic, and it may be difficult to get fiberglass to adhere (i would have to try it)....they could be customized, if you know what you are doing, if you had to pay someone....it would be a lot of $$$$$$$..I have repaired them before, used a plastic welder...
it would be cheaper to buy bigger bags in the style you want.
just my opinion...

Yea they are some kind of kick A$$ plastic and it will do as a crash bar. I've tested them on an oil slick one day, and you can't go down any quicker than on oil. I would have thought they would have shattered as quick and hard as i went down, Only scratched them. I'll agree here, better off to sell what you have and find a suitable bag and mount it up as others have.

Hey Don
If you look at the beetle bag for a R* & you look at mine you will see a difference. The lines around the bag are different
