#224432 kurtfriedrich (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 96 Looking for a simple, but not junk, tach for my R* 2 Years, 5 Months ago   From scanning the posts, it seems like adding a tach is a matter of bolting it onto the bars, then yanking the gas tank and hooking up some wires on a coil. Are there other complications? I'd love to hear feedback from people who bought lower priced models 2 or more years ago and can attest that they are still working fine. What brand did you get? I've had mine for close to three years now. hookup is fairly simple. I soldered the connections. Worked great for the 10,000 miles I had it , sold it to a buddy , he's put 10 more thousand on it. I highly recommend the Kuryakyn P clamp for a clean finish. Rather than go out and measure, does any one know what size handle bars stock 2005 R* has. I need a clamp to go around the bars to attach the tach.
