2-year old battery? (27 months in AZ heat) 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Seems like mine won't hold a charge form a couple days if I let the bike sit. Am I doing something wrong, or is this about right on a life expectancy for a bike that gets ridden nearly every day?
It accepts a charge over-night from my trickle-charger, but just won't crank if I leave it sittting for 2-3 days for some weird reason.

Thoughts?

Sounds like something is drawing the charge down. Battery should not lose a charge that fast.

Mines same age and after sitting 2 or 3 days it goes full charge in 30 seconds with a digital charger. So Something is wrong with your deal. Like he said, it may be a draw. Charge the battery, disconnect the Neg Terminal from it and let it sit same time, Re connect battery, If it starts, It's a draw from the bike that is draining it. If it still does not start, take battery in for testing.

But this is the best battery I ever seen in a bike.

MS1700, what battery are you running? (just in case I end up needing a new one)

Thx,

Did you let it sit with a dead batterey for any length of time? You should always keep a charge on them or they go bad. Float charge over the winter and don't ever put it up dead from crank exaustion during a mechanical issue.

this just happened to me with our boat... we had a brand new battery that sat for a couple years in the havasu heat and now it's dead and won't charge, even though it was never actually even used. so i can believe that it's just baked.

Same one that came new in the bike 30K miles and 16 months ago. The bike is and 07 bought in 08 so Bat sat that long at dealer. I would buy same bat in a heart beat. I run lots of electronics and lights and I toss it on charger about once a month and it always tops off in less than 2 min and says FULL.

Same thing with mine two weeks ago. I replaced the battery and it's working' like a charm. Freakin' thinga are more expensive than my truck battery.

How much do these batteries go for? On my CM400 I used to just buy a lawnmower battery - almost the same cranking amps for half the price.

I'd go with the stock battery again myself.
I still have the original in my bike, it's been 4 years never out of the bike and never on a charger.
