I wouldn't take for my 3000 it make a big differance. I have my curve set at 34A which gives me my HP and Torque in the 2500 to 3000 range for passing. I have my limit set for 5500 but I never take it much over 5100. I don't like the engine sputting no matter what I want it ready to repond at all times. I did set the curve at 36A and that moved the HP and Torque up higher but I wanted it where I can use it to pass. It has been take all the way to 5500 when it was on the dyno with no problems. I just sold my OEM ECU and if the 3000 goes out I will dran sure buy another one.

I went w/the Dynojet Rev Master on my '00 R/S. It raises the rev limit to 5000 rpm,but it doesn't affect the timing curve. Retails for $125. Got mine off ebay for $75. It really woke the motor up. Those x-tra rpm's are really sweet!! Never hit the limiter yet. If I do any internal mods to the motor, I'll probably go to the 3000 box,but for a stock motor this is a good set-up.

What exactly are the options for doing away with the rev limiter on roadstar. I'm quite sure these engines could handle over 5000 rpm without any major engine rebuild...any imput is welcome..thanks

You don't provide much details as to your setup but even with aftermarket pipes and airbox, why would you want to run above 5000 rpm.

At 5000 rpm, the 1700 is on the downside of the HP curve.

I have the Yamaha Competition Ignition Module (5500 RPM) with Yamaha drag pipes and BAK
Works great for me. For me I went Yamaha on everything so I knew everything would work good together, and it has.

hey doc... what other details are you looking for..not looking to trash my engine...just want it to run to it's potential....when limiter comes on at 4300 rpm and bike is still pulling, i believe its potential is not being reached, not trying to set up a rocket here...we all know that the roadie isn't...just a geat cruiser...with attitude is nice though!...thanks all for your input

doc, i have o6 1700, pro r intake...3" hk exhaust ,iridium plugs.....up grade to metzler skins...rejet...3rd clip..175 main 3 turns on pms, removed ais...still think there is something wrong with rev limiter engaging at 4300 rpm. don't you? I guess my only solution to this is the dyna 3000...

Re:Rev limiter??? 2 Years, 8 Months ago
You can get a Dyna 3000 or a Rev Master .... both will do the trick to raise the rpm limit.

For a 1700 with your setup, max HP is 4400 - 4800 rpm so I would set the rev limiter about 5000.

Why do you think the rev limiter is engaging at 4300? .... that's were the 1600 engage, not the 1700.
