MS1700 Just so you know there was no ill or malice intent I hope you know this was just debating and if I said anything that was wrong please except my apology.
Now holy cow you bombarded me with so much information. Yes I may have won this one but you taught me some things about batteries that maybe I will start taking better care. So it's all good. Again I only based what I have learned from experiance out here in this desert heat but now with this information and our little debate I might be able to prolong the life of my batteries so Thank You.

So basically, Arizona wouldn't be a good place to own a plug-in electric car with a $5,000 battery pack?

OH geesh! Yea according to the info I found Electric cars won't do well there eh? But for you people who do live in Desert they make a battery called a Zebra designed for heat, no idea if they got into Bikes or not just cars.

I take everyone at their word here Hardone2get, You said it and I looked it up and I learn something two, a little back and fourth and everyone stands a chance to learn something. Still pissed about ruining my Retirement State. AZ heat was welcome to Ohio native, but after that I did two years in Hawaii, Much better scenery and no battery problems, but Milk in 1979 was $2.75 a gallon. Rent was $1600 for small house. So that's was never an option.

I was in Anthem on July the 3rd and watched the fireworks at the lake. It was a 108 at 9:30 pm.

I checked awhile back about getting an electrolyte recharge pack for my battery, and was told that they don't sell them anymore. Come to find out one of the plates was grounding out, anyways, so we ended up replacing my battery.

I am wondering about a gel battery in that heat?????

Yes the gel batteries do better but the best battery I have seen last out here is this. http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/?gclid=CMjyhP_u-5wCFSn6agodRFvDag
Unfortunately they don't make a motorcycle battery that I know of.

It sounds like there is a big need out there for a new industry.

With so many things going electric and solar powered, or wind generated, we should find a new type of battery.

I've seen a new flashlight that uses Capacitors vs the normal battery. Supposed to work for 90 - 120 hours on a charge, and charges from dead to full in 90 seconds.

Things to ponder?

"545 cranking amps for 5 seconds" "Military Grade"

I think that would smoke any stock wiring to the starter if the bike didn't pop right off.

Looks like a good one to go with.

I ran an Odyssey for a couple of years and would not recommend a gel battery for anyone who stores the bike for extended periods. They require constant attention over the winter and if not stored correctly, quickly loose their life.

They do, however, seem to work very well if you use the bike all season. I don't know how well they would work in heat but I suspect they could be better.
