Ah, I remember going through that mess, too. I would say pull the whole wiring harness out and start over. If you have one bad wire, you may have others that will go bad eventually. Did you wrap the whole harness in tape? If so, then you have no choice anyway. Good luck, you'll get it and it will be worth it.

A short will blow the fuse and then nothing on that circuit (LH signals) will work, so that isn't the problem. The power from the fuse goes directly to the signal relay. From the relay 2 wires go to the switch Br/W for left and Y/R for right. With the key on you should have a flickering (relay turning on & off) voltage on the Y/R wire. If no voltage then 1/2 of the relay is bad, or there is a break in the Y/R wire; if you have a flickering voltage then turn on the right turn switch and you should have a flickering voltage on the Dg wire, if no voltage at the switch then half of the switch is bad, if there is voltage at the switch is there voltage at the other end of the Dg wire?

Cliff, the relay is the blinker and supplied power to the switch. The switch decides which side to flash
|

Just to make sure I'm checking voltage correctly, red lead to wire black lead to ground or where the service manual says. I am on 1XK under ohms on the volt meter.
I'm getting voltage (assuming i am using the volt meter correctly) on all the wires.

OK, Figured out that volts thing...
Volts on all wires except the dark green, Ch / Y/R / Br/W all work. dark green = no volts at the switch or the plug in the bucket

If you have no volts out of the switch, with the right turn switched on, then your problem is the switch. Inspect the connections inside the switch for corrosion. Check where the wire attaches to the switch. I wouldn't mess with the others. best to leave well enough alone. I've never had one apart, so I can't tell you what to look for. I glanced at my clymers manual this morning, but I couldn't find a picture of the switch disassembled. All that tugging and maneuvering could of damaged something in there.

Keep at it. If this is your only problem, your in great shape. (except the money spent if it needs a switch).

I'm assuming when you say no voltage at the switch, your checking inside the switch and not at the connector. Since your splices should be between the switch and the connector.
