WHAT A WEEKEND 2 Years, 8 Months ago
|
|
What a weekend I had. I was forced to take a little time off work, the company decided they would no longer roll over our paid time off. Use it or lose it. So I took friday off of work to go riding with some freinds, well I never made it. On the freeway, just a few miles from my house, they were doing road construction, free way down to one lane on top of a bridge a lady two cars a head locks up her brakes, I hit mine and start to slide on that nice new oily slick asphalt.the lady in front of me locks hers up and i clip her bumper and lay the bike down. Long story short, i end up with broken toe and a shattered arm. Had surgery on it yesterday, couple plates and eleven screws to put it back together. When i got out of the hospital I went to look at the bike, I was really surprised at how well it actually held up. Needless to say, I am out for the rest of the riding season. But I have all winter to heal and fix the bike. I will be back on the road come spring.

unreal, whats with all these people slamming on their brakes. Thats what caused the 20 bike pile up too. well i know it doesnt make you feel any better but i guess it could have been worse for you. Thankfully it wasnt. Your damned if you do and damned if you dont. Hang close to the cagers in front of you and what happened to you can happen. Stay back from the cagers in front of you and youve got the ones behind you on your ass. I wish theyd make EVERYBODY getting a drivers licence take the MSC and ride on the streets before giving them ANY license. Maybe then they would realize the situations they put bikers in. But thank god you didnt get TOO seriously hurt, and the bike survived.
Take care bro and stay safe

Democracy is two wolves and a small lamb voting on whats for dinner. Freedom under a constitutional republic is a well armed lamb.

sorry to hear about the accident. It sounds very similar to the one I was in a year ago. Your face looks like it made out OK, you must have been wearing a helmet? Is the other drivers's insurance going to chip in? I Know with mine it was an illeagal w/ no insurance or even driver's lisence for that matter. It's bad enough getting slammed to the pavement, but then paying Dr. bills on top of it really hurts. Let us know what parts you need to get it back togiether (the bike). One good thing to take from this.. it's time for custom paint: always got to look at the bright side. again, sorry to hear that, but at least, it's nothing that won't heal.
