gas tank float... 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Maybe I'll get a quicker response with a new post..... Anybody tell me which way the float points to after the sending unit is installed? Should it point to the front of the tank or towards the rear? I fixed my sending unit and reinstalled it but I didnt pay attention to which way it was pointed when I pulled it out. I'm pretty sure it points to the rear,... I put it in towards the front, and after I filled it up it went dead again. Untill I used a gallon of gas then it started workin again. I think with a full tank the float goes to high and the brushes lose contact with the board. If I was to turn it around, it wouldnt go as high and all should be well. Thats what I'm figurin' out with my 5th grade edumacation.

float goes to the larger part of the tank.. found that out the hard way... put my new one in.. and filled it up with gas... and only showed half tank... pain in the rear end... lesson learned the hard way
