I just don't know what to do anymore . . . 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Hey dudes whaasup . . . as some of you might know I have been having trouble with my drive belt , it was making a noise , I tried a lot of different settings and finally I had it just right (or so I thought . . . )

It started making the same old noise , so I try to take another look at the alignment when I noticed that I was not tightening the axle nuts right , so I took of the nut (from the right side) and boy was I surprised !!

This is what the right axle nut looks like :

What the heck ?? What happened to the threads on it ??

where do I find another nut like that ?? how do you name this ?? what size is it ?? I went to a screws and nuts specialized store , and they did not have it , what gives , can anybody tell me or help me out with this ?? I can not move my bike with out it . . .

I need to ride , I can not ride until I fix this

Last but not least , does my axle look alright ??

I hope somebody gives me some pointers on this . . . thanks !!

Your axle looks like crap too. I would not chance a break down of that sort any distance from home. Get your self a new axle and nut from a yamaha source ( dealer, ebay, etc...)

The Axle might be usable if (big If) what we are seeing is the left over threads from what used to be part of your nut sitting in the threads of the axle. If that is not.....replacement time. BB

I looked up the fiche at South Seattle Sports Plaza, the description is
SKU: 90185-18167-00
NUT, SELF-LOCKING $6.66

the axle is
SKU: 4WM-25381-00-00
AXLE, WHEEL $38.50

Just FYI Loko.

The axle nut has been tightened to much.

The spec in the service manual is wrong .... the nut should only be tighten to about 65 ft lbs.

One of my friends was just here and he says that the Axle still can hold a few thousand miles , I called San Diego house of motorcycles and they priced me the rear wheel axle for $60 !! plus tax and if I look in a couple of websites from local vendors , the cheapest price I could found was $55 for the axle and $9 dlls for the nut
