What we found in the case of MS1700 bike a 07 1700 was that the more open the V the less chance the carb
bowl would boil over. If you run the pump on hot days the fuel line seems to have more pressure and when the bowl boils ( lack of better term) that is when you get puke. When I say a bigger volume of air, stock mods won't help you need to get rid of the stock housing. That helps to hold heat in which is what causes puke. This is what we noticed as piece by piece was modified.
I became more convinced of this since going with a 42 hrs carb. The bowl is atleast double the 40 and find myself chocking after 15 to 20 min of sitting.
The two times the bike pukes is at start up after a hot bike is parked a short time and when shutting down in same conditions. We also noted that the bike seems to start easier in both case after pumpless and K&N filter similar to MR C air filter mod.
Believe it or not your choice maybe you will find a better way with stock, but I would read puking thread before beating your head against the wall.
