Texting vs. Drunk Driving 2 Years, 8 Months ago
While setting in the Radiology department last week for my second MRI on my shoulder and back, I was reading a Car and Driver Mag. I was wishing it could have been a couple other mags by choice, but we won't go there.

I came across this article, and decided to see if I could get it online and show you guys. The written version is somewhat more detailed but this is what we are facing out there on the road today. In my case and others here that have had wrecks here lately, it just scares the crap right out of me.

Be safe out there, and keep the rubber down, and the chrome topside.

Yeh this is one of my biggest gripes while on the road on the R* or in my work truck, the other day I seen an accident where a small suv was setting at a red light and here came Barbie in a full size suv with her cell phone stuck to her ear and never even braked and slammed into the rear of the small suv. the weared part was while she was running around at the accident she talked on the phone the whole time and didnt really seem to care that the other driver was injured.

Taking it even a step further into the realm of human stupidity last thursday night on my way to work I was in my car in the middle lane at a red light with cars/truck in front of and on both sides of me. I look in the rearview and see a kid coming up behind me on a crotch rocket sitting straight up neither hand on his bars but looking down at both his hands or so I thought, seemed strange so I am focusing on him, he just keeps coming and since I have NO WHERE to go I hit my horn and he looks up and realizes just how close he has gotten to me and dang near dumped his bike, accident avoided thankfully but when the light turns green he goes by me and gives me the single finger salute which I still haven't figured out why, but I look and he has his cell phone in his hand, I dont know if he was looking at a call or sending one of those stupid messages but whatever he was doing I just had to shake my head and wonder why someone would do something THAT DANGEROUS and JUST PLAIN STUPID.

Any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: I SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY. John F. Kennedy Aug. 1963

And he flipped you off as if you had done something wrong. You should not have been sitting at that red light in his way while he was texting. The dip didn't even realize you saved his bacon by honking your horn. Remarkable. The level of stupid get's worse by the month.

On Oct. 1st The new law takes effect here in Ark. It will be against the law to text while driving. Altough it's a step in the right direction, How the heck do you enforce it???? You can still talk on the phone in your car, but you can't text! Had a close call yesterday with a yoyo on his cell. As luck would have it he saw me at the last minute. Study after study shows that when talking on a cell phone [even hands free]and driving your reactions are the same as being leagly drunk! With nearly 40,000 deaths a year in traffic accidents [half of which involve drinking and driving] you'd think somebody would say "enough is enough" Sorry I'll be getting off my soap box now.
