Information I got off a web site is not to gap them. However if you need to close the gap just put the tip down on a solid table and push it down. To open is where the issue is, you don't want to put any pressure on the tiny electrode, they did show a tool that would pull the piece up by using a lever action on the body of the plug. And of course you need to be extra careful not to break the electrode tip when sliding the gauge in there to measure.
Service manual calls for gap .031 - .035 The NGK plug is gapped at .035....so you're good to go

Don't forget even if a plug is supposed to be "pregapped" That gap needs to be checked. It is not uncommon for the gap to change during shipment from being banged around or dropped. As Erbman said closing the gap is easy by tapping on a hard surface . To open the gap you can very carfully grab the grounding tip with a pair of pliers on the outside and pull it open to the correct gap rather than prying on the center electrode. If the gap is too tight you will not get a proper spark it will be a cold spark , If the gap is too wide you will get a hot spark and that is not good either.

Mine were good out of the box. They say not to adjust them but I always check anyway, NGKs are packaged so it's nearly imposssible to mess them up in transit.
If they should need adjusted, I use a spark gap tool with no problems, same as any other plug. You should never jam the feeler in hard enough to break an electrode.
