Time for a can of Seafoam in the tank. Run it for a couple of minutes, let it sit a day and then see if it will run w/out the choke. If so, take it out and run the heck out of it.

And after you run a full can of Seafoam through a tank of gas, you MUST change oil & filter...it'll be black & toxic with all the crap the Seafoam cleaned out of your engine and dumped into the oil.

how does adding seafoam to the gas cause your oil to get cruddy? If these systems generally mingle there would be gas in the oil or smoke in the exhaust, or am I missing something here?

If the valves are all Carboned up , the seafoam will break it up and some of it will get into the oil. I know from personal experience. Even the bottle of ringfree (from the mothership...) has those same instructions on it IF using as a "shock treatment" (the whole bottle in one tank of gas...). What little does get by (off the cylinder walls) really crud's up oil. BB

Try draining your float bowl as well there may be crud settled in the bottom of it if you have let it set for any amount of time or even water. The gas we get now days sucks. If that doesn't help then do the sea foam.
