2010 Meet and Greet T Shirts 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Hi everyone! I haven't posted much lately...actually haven't been on here much at all recently. I'm making an appearance here to say that I'll be taking on the tedious, grueling, confusing, stressful, time consuming task of the T Shirts for the 2010 M&G in Stockport. I will have the help of a few of our members (Thank you in advance!) I ask for your patience and understanding. From hearing a few stories of the glitches and problems that were run into with the '09 M&G shirts, we're going to use a little bit of a different approach this year.

I would like to keep this thread open for about a month for people to give their input or opinions or ideas for the shirts. I'd like to know your ideas on the color of shirts you'd like, what you'd like or wouldn't like written on them, etc. If you don't care to post on the thread, you can send me a PM with your ideas, concerns, worries, etc. Do not mistake this post as your signal to put your order in. That will be at a later date. I will make an official post on that later on.

You can feel free to post if you're going to be ordering shirts and possibly how many, so that gives me some kind of an idea as to how many shirts we may be contracting the printer for to get estimates on prices. I have a lot of legwork to do, like I said, so please be patient.

I would appreciate this thread being kept "bumped" into the recent forum on the side of the page, so that most members who visit on a somewhat regular basis will have a chance to notice the thread.

I have made contact with a lady who does some really beautiful work. She also does patches. She seemed willing to take a look at and possibly do the rocker patches as well. I had her make this one for me:

She's very willing to work with me on this project, but I have 2 other people I need to see as well.
This thread is officially open for discussion...and let's keep it civil. Remember...no one else volunteered to take on this project when Darn posted that he wasn't going to do the shirts again this year.

Yours truly, Schatzie (Janet)

Thank you, thank you, thank you, and just in case I didn't tell you before.... THANK YOU! As much as I didn't want to take it on for the second time, I am willing to offer you any assistance that you need in this task.

I think all the shirts should be the same, but I would like it to be a polo shirt. I don't know if you've received one from EMU or not, but the Ulysses Club shirt is one of the most comfy shirts I have. It will cost more, probably with art and stitching around $30 each? But worth it. I think instead of screen printing the RSC patch, we could actually just put a patch on each, and then the rocker(s)??
My $.02 worth.... Darn

Thanks Schatzie for taking this on. You're the darling of the RSC!

I am seriously considering attending the Meet and Greet and will watch for developments here.

As for a shirt, I would prefer the polo too. My favorite color is not black.

My suggestion: Why not just have the *patch* embroidered on the shirt rather than a patch? I would think it would be more durable and cost less.

(Rockers? Not familiar) I'm not sure how a print on the back would suit a patch or embroidery on the front. (or am I missing something?)

Rayjay,
A rocker is a small, sometimes curved patch (hence rocker), that you can stack above or below existing patches on your vest or jacket. Imagine a RSC patch with a rocker below for the 2009 M&G. Below that rocker you can put the rocker for the 2010 M&G. It saves space on your vest. The M&G shirts are silk screened with the design for that particular year. Embroidering patches on shirts can add greatly to the production cost of the shirt (more money for shirts=less money for beer!!)

I have to agree with you. Schatzie, you are the darling of the RSC!

Paul

Schatzie, thanks for taking on the job of coordinating shirts. You propably already know most of this but we order shirts for the fire department all year long so here's my input for you. Darn found out that it's not an easy task to deal with many different types of shirts, and then we threw an additional order on him after the weekend. He did a fabulous job figuring it all out. You should set a deadline date for ordering right from the start. That date should give the vendor plenty of time to get the order to you. You may want to have them done a few weeks in advance so that they can ship out and we can wear them to the M and G. If you decide to go with one type of shirt, or several, make yourself a spreadsheet and keep a list of everything ordered that you can copy off to the vendor. Not really a bad idea to offer a couple of different options, i.e. polo, long sleeve, short sleeve, etc. just a lot more work for you. Pay the price for a good heavy duty shirt. There's nothing worse than getting a shirt and washing it a couple of times and it becomes junk. Charge an extra buck for each shirt. Shipping charges change, and there are always variables. Whatever extra you have after everything is shipped, you can use at the Meet to buy ingredients for your fabulous cole slaw! And finally, you may or may not want to use the same vendor that Darn used for the 2010 rockers. If you use the same vendor, you shouldn't have any issues with them matching the 2009 rockers and the patch. That leg work is already done and you would probably save the setup charges.

Thanks again, I'm already getting excited about the 2010 M and G.

And yes, it was 47 degrees this morning and I rode to work!!!!

AW yea! Been a while since I had any "bucket" Cole Slaw! What's up with that? I can put an order in for some Slaw, Carrot cake, and any of that German stuff. Be right there.

Shipping, Oh boy! Your going to be busy! I want One of whatever it is. 10-4 of the fall apart T shirt, we bought one that didn't last a 1st wash. (it was $12)

Amen to a better quality shirt!

#2 your spread sheet or order form should include the RSC name/handle and the REAL name and mailing address (trust me on this one it can get confusing)

Mailing them out it a real pain in the butt, and if you are willing to do so, make sure you cover the cost of the shipping and the package/envelope and YOUR time. One trip to the post office vs the dozen I did. I'm sure I even sent a couple of shirts out to a few people who NEVER paid me, I lost track and right now it's just a dead issue.

Also, we have a few members who live over seas or at least out of the country and you have increased shipping fees plus you have to do an extra step with the customs form(s).

Rockers/Patches/Embroider... all choices that have to be made. Support the clinic and buy the patches from No Pork??

This is the RSC patch with the 2009 rocker.

I think I agree with supporting the clinic. The clinic patch should be ordered from NoPork. I like the rocker, and if Darn's guy still has the pattern, then a final count can be given for those by a certain date. (Darn and I could work out the payment). I'm sure that Darn could find some place to stash them for the ride to the M&G. The patches tend to be better for sewing onto your jacket or vest, or some outer layer of apparel. They are quite thick, and I don't think they would go well on a shirt. You're better off just having a shirt embroidered directly if that's what you want. A patch is too heavy and bulky on a shirt.

Keep talking! I'm listening!
