K&N filter replacement question 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Hey, Has anyone replaced their air filter with a K&N? Just replaced my stock air filter (have an 08 RS)with a K&N. NOT a BAK, or one with aditional holes, it fits in the stock cover. Any-who, it sounds "different" at idle, and I'm wondering if that's normal. Can't really describe the sound, just that it's louder, like you can hear the air going in. Since it's still the stock cover, with no additional air intake, I didn't think it'd sound different. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Marty

Could be from different media being used. K&N may have a less restricting media.

You will find that all K&N will give a sucking sound. The media is less restrictive and you can really hear the carb sucking. Same way with autos I have one on my Dodge truck and man can you hear that thing suck. So all is good don't worry just enjoy the ride and the sound.

Marty

I replaced the stock air filter on my '03 midnight with a K&N and I too hear the air intake breathing. This is typical of this filter. I also have them in my cars. Don't worry it's normal.

I put the K&N in mine when it was brand new, so I've never heard the cheap Air Filter. I love mine, pay a few bucks now and never buy another one!
