What experience do you guys have on Crash Bar Covers. Thinking of getting a set for the winter. Do they stay on ? Do they look Good? do they affect gas milage? are they noisey? If you guys could comment I would appreciate any info. Also where to purchase, what to look for and what to stay away from.

I can't remember what ones I have... they are from Canada; they are worth the money though. Keep you warm in the cooler weather and keep you dry also. They are easy on and off and stay put while on. They are great.
Noisey... no.

I've had mine for 2 years now..... LOVE 'em!
Purchased mine from Chilhowee Leather http://www.chilhowee.net/
They are easy to put on or take off. 3 snaps and 2 straps hold them on. They don't flap, move, nothing. You can get them with pockets, studs, just about anyway you want them. ( Mine have studs and a pocket on each side. I bought a STAR logo concho for each pocket. They look like STAR factory pieces! )
I haven't noticed a change in gas mileage, no noise. The bike doesn't know they are on there......
They really block the wind off of your legs and feet.
Plus, they dress up the bike too!!!!

I bought a set from an outfit in Canada, map pocket and chrome studs. It got messed up in a hit and run accident a few years back so I had a local upholster make me up a new set. He did all that the Canada guys did, but for $35 vs. $135. I just installed them this past week because it is getting a bit chilly at night and some mornings. Check with a local upholster to see what they can do for you, or PM me and I’ll get you the number for the dude that did mine. Both he and his son ride so they understand where we are coming from. By the way, he did my tank bra for $13, that’s including the chrome studs.

I just ordered some engine guard chaps from Airlite. They fit the Yamaha big bar engine guard. It seems like most manufacturers make them for the various brands of engine guards. Here's a link to airlite's website if you want to check them out: http://www.airlite.ca/products.php

I have the Airlite one for my Big Bar. In cold weather, it is worth it's weight in gold! It makes the warm air from the engine swirl up around your legs and body. Goes on and comes off in seconds. I highly recommend it.

Hey bro,
Do you have the contact info for the guys who made your highway bar covers? I picked up a 2008 and the highway bars on there have no name, so i was guessing i would give them the measurements and see what they can do..
Thanks and stay safe.

What MikalJ and Kia said, got mine also from from Chilhowee Leather, nice folk to buy from.
My fairing overlaps the lowers and the lowers overlap the crashguard chaps. Really helps out in cold weather and extends the riding season.
All of this together probably does reduce gas mileage a small bit, but at 38 miles per gallon, I'm happy as a clam.
