I`ve wanted this part on my Star forever.Got it this year for Xmas. The instructions were understandable.Kuryakns route of running the wires under the fender and ziptie to the inner fender bracket just didn`t make sense to me.Tried it,didn`t like it.Ripped it all out.Why the hell did they make the wires so D... long anyway?Listen,Connect everything under the light housing, just like it was STOCK!Get doubleside tape and put four strips inside the light to hold your wires.Cut each signal wire to 8 inches, crimp on new connectors, plug into harness, fold everthing up nice and tight into the housing, zip tie it tight, cover with flat black tape and you are done.Don`t see why Kuryakn didn`t do it this way. Also, superglue the rubber washers to the light, easier to assemble this way.

solder is way more desireable and water resistant than crimp connectors. just my $0.02.

More pictures please, Im thinking of this also and I thought they would look cleaner as I am going solo and the tag is very high on the rear fender with the rear seat and backrest off.

When installing, I struggled with those dam wires a great deal until I figured it out. I found it much easier to pull two of the three bolts that hold the fender on. Rotate the fender up and had all kinds of room to run the wires and tighten everything up. My rear turn signals no longer hit my hard bags lid when closing/opening and its a much cleaner look for me.

I'm working on a new signature pic.

What is the procedure for flipping up the rear fender to access beneath it?

Remove the two bolts that run from the seat area to the front of the fender.

Loosen the top bolt.

Pull the seat off. Pull the tool kit. There are two rubber covers over the bolt heads in question, remove them. The third bolt is the one that hinges or removed for fender removal. Dont forget to disconnect the wire harness for the brake lights on the left hand side next to the left bolt. It too is right under the seat in the area of the fender bolts.

I knew someone would chime in before I finished. Thanks Doc

Solder is ok, but they sell self sealing butt connectors and special crimpers that will secure the wires without crushing them. The crimpers are about 10 bucks at the auto parts store. The vw/audi/bentley crimpers are almost exactly the same and they'll hold up to 18 pounds of weight before failure, when done right (not that i've ever strapped on 18 pounds to a wire before).
