To DrumDon, that is quite the bike you found for me! Looks like it would be a bitch to park though!

After all the replies from you guys, I can tell you that I am comfortable with Road Star now. I guess just the way some of the descriptions of some of the mods on the site are worded it sounded kind of like they needed to be done to make the bike run correctly, reliably, etc. I can see that is not the case though from your comments.

I am still unsure as to whether or not I will buy the bike I mentioned. If I do, it would probably be tommorrow. I do think however that I will buy one at least by next Spring and it will be a Roadie unless some bike appears at my feet that actually really fits me, etc. I don't think that will happen however and the Road Star was the most comfortable by far even without the floorboards moved forward 3".

I'll keep you informed as to what I do. Who knows, maybe tommorrow night there will be a new thread started by me with the title "Bought it!"

Well, I did not quite pull the trigger today and buy the Road* that I said I was interested in. I did go look at it and spent quite a bit of time discussing the relocation of floorboards, etc. with the staff there. This was actually the first time I really looked at this particular Road* in person as the other times I was there I looked at a couple of others. With the price drop of $1000.00 on this one this week it moved up on the depth chart . The way this place works is that they take all the accessories off the bikes they take in and sell them on E-Bay I guess plus you can buy them there too. If you buy a bike there and want something done to it, they give you a 20% discount on parts and labor. I'm 99.99% sure I will go back on Monday and buy the bike and will have them relocate the floorboards plus do some other stuff to it as far as adding some accessories like a winshield, saddlebags, etc. Yeah, I know I could do that stuff myself but with the labor discount and the used accessories are like 50% less cost than new, why not pay them to do it? That way when the bike is delivered it is ready to ride.

Does anyone know if you can still put engine guard bars on the bike if the floorboards have been moved forward 3"? It probably makes no difference to the answer to the question but they would be using a kit from Lightning Performance to relocate the Floorboards. I would like an engine guard bar if possible if they have a used one there that is in good shape and will fit with the new location of the floor boards, etc.

Also, has anyone put the Hardcore Quiet baffles available from SmartPartz.com in Vance and Hines Longshots? That is what is on the bike for an exhaust and it is a bit too loud for me and my neighborhood. I like louder than the stock exhaust but not too loud. I'm wondering how much the Hardcore Quiet baffles reduce the sound?

Be comfortable in your Road Star decision. After a 20 absence from riding, got a Yamaha 250, then 650 custom, which I loved, and now I own a Road Star Silverado. This is my 7th bike all in all, but by far my favorite. I have gone camping on it twice now and have no problems to report. Got it June this year and have already put 4k miles on it. The vibration at idle takes some getting used to at first, but hey, it has more CI displacement that a Volkswagen! Being a V-twin, the piston are HUGE, so some vibration at idle is to be expected. At cruising speed, the vibration seems to disipate altogether for me, and that's with the stock seats. I will be keeping this one for a long long time, (or my wife will kill me to death)! Good decision on your part.

off subject but...theres a strip club just a couple miles from my house called the blue goose that i used to go to in high school haha...just had to share with ya...blue goose hehe... glad you are happy with your roadie, and dyjaz soon you will be happy with your roadie too!
