Upgrade Light Bar 2 Years, 4 Months ago
I'm kind of sick of the straight turn signal front light bar that came on my Midnight Star. Any preference for Yamaha fog light upgrade or other after market kits?

depends on what you want there are a couple of options. First it the Yamaha passing lamps (like mine) then Cobra makes a decent set and Kury has a set of small ones that look good.

shacky, I had the Cobra Steel Lightbar but switched it out for the Kuryakyn Driving Light Bar with LED Turn Signals. LED's are small and not that noticable during daylight so I also added the Kuryakyn Turn Signals with Flat Glass. Wired the mirrors to only act as turn signals and not running lights. Here are a couple pics.

I haven't owned one but have heard the Yamaha driving light bars are prone to braking

I see some of you guys have removed the bar completely and kept the stock can. How did you do this? The can bolts to the turn signal bar. I hate to cut the bracket off the turn signals, incase I want to go back.

I like the look of Yamis, too. I have had any breakage problems, but did have a wandering "left eye" until I locked it down with a toothed washer.

Didn't like the lollipop turn signals either so I used the small LED silver bullets with the 5/16 bolt mounting & mounted them to the windshield bracket. These are the dual function which are supposed to have run/turn, although I could never get the turn function to work properly 'till I did a bit of wiring modification. Anybody that wants to try them, I have more pics & a description of what I did to get them to work the way they're supposed to. PM me & I'll be glad to share. Btw, this is strictly a bolt on deal, no cutting & can be reversed easily.

Well I have purchased a number of light bars and kits in preperation for the upgrade but settled with the factory halogen setup. I thought it was by far the best quality setup I have seen. I just installed mine today and aside frome the PITA setup procedure It all turned out very nice and looks great. I used a series of straight edges and bubble levels to set up and square the lights and turn signals but the end result is very nice looking, and my night time test ride was spot on for me. No further adjustments needed.
