AMA? 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Do any of you guys belong to the AMA? I noticed that my AAA does not cover motorcycles unless you have the "RV" package that costs over $100 per year. The AMA has roadside assistance. Is it any good? will they come anywhere? what do you guys know about the AMA?

I don't know much about the American Motorcycle Association, what they offer and such.... I used to belong to them in the 70's.....

With Triple A ( AAA ), I have the RV towing package, which not only covers RV's, but my moyorcycle as well. As far as I know, they cover you ANYWHERE. I've used them before..... no problems. Expensive? Just depends, I guess. I'd rather have the peace of mind knowing that I can get a tow when I need it.

I noticed that Progressive offers 'roadside assistance' as a part of their insurance package as well......

Check with your insurance co. You may have it on your policy already or can get it added. Then you wouldn't need to get another policy.

If you have ATT/Cingular cell phone, you can have roadside assistance for anything you may be in, even as a passenger, for just a couple of bucks a month.

I belong to the AMA and they just started their Roadside assistance. You get the coverage free if you opt. to have your renewal done automatically every year. So for the cost of the $39 membership alone you can get their coverage. It does go anywhere but you are only covered for so many miles. I think it is less than 50 if I remember right. On top of that for the membership price you are a member of the largest motorcycle association and they really do great legal work on the Hill and on the local level as well. The roadside assistance also covers your other vehicles as well.

Here's a paragraph from their website www.ama-cycle.org

Benefits include coverage for bikes, cars, pickups, motorhomes and trailers registered to the member, the member's spouse and dependent children under the age of 24, living at home or away at college; towing up to 35 miles; flat-tire assistance; coverage in all 50 states, plus Puerto Rico and Canada; emergency fuel delivery; up to five dispatched service calls per year; and toll-free assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from two national call centers.
