I must say... I just got this Tricky Air Ride before I made this last trip to South Florida... and WOW! What a difference! When we go on a trip on the bike, it is always 2-up riding... I have had the Barons Air Ride for about 2 years... When I got that, I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread... but now, after having that and then "upgrading" to the Tricky setup, Tricky has the best ride!
Hands down, from fit and finish to function and performance... with being able to adjust the rebound from soft to firm and also being able to control how fast it releases the air to set the bike down... instead of slamming the bike down, you can sit the bike down... instead of bouncing over the bumps, you can glide over them... you can actually "choose" how you ride your bike...
I have also found that the Barons shock housing is basically made for a solo setup... I kept having to add a little air to the Barons when we stopped on long trips... this was due to the way the shock was finished... the Barons only allows you 400lbs over and above the wet weight of the bike alone... this means the accessories too! So, if you have saddlebags, stuff in those saddlebags, a sissy bar and other accessories, that is not included in the weight of the bike... it is, in fact, included in the 400lb weight limit... When riding my bike solo... I never had one issue with the Barons... when I rode 2-up with the Barons, I always had to pay attention to how much air was in the system with every stop... especially when on rough or bumpy roads...
This 2000 mile trip that we just took, we had the Tricky, not once did I have to put "extra" air back into the shock... and the ride maintained the same throughout the 2000 mile ride... Now mind you, just the wife and I put us over the 400lb weight limit of the Barons... then add on the Royal Star saddlebags and mounts... the HD detachable sissy bar, all the stuff in the saddlebags and our Iron horse Iron rider sissy bar bags loaded with a weeks worth of clothes... plus other misc add ons... I am very impressed with the Tricky Air Ride setup... if you ride 2-up, pull a trailer with your bike, haul a lot of stuff when you go on trips or just want the cool factor of being able to lower your bike... Tricky is the way to go in my book...

Great rwrite up. Something i've always wondered: with these systems or any kind of lowering for that matter does the angle of the drive line change? is this an issue, i.e. does it cause alignment issues or shorten the wear life of drive parts?

The only thing that I have found as far as the driveline goes is the belt issue... to get the proper tension on the belt is very hard... what you have to do is find the exact middle of the suspension travel and set the tension there... and you would also need to remove the plastic rollers around the front drive pulley... other than that... nothing else changes... there would be no need in changing the alignment or anything else....

Rob... no problem! just let me know when you guys get back... I would love to be able to come down to Daytona... but with being laid off right now... I really dont have the cash... maybe if I get my truck sold in the next day or two, but I dont see that happenin either,LOL!!
I like to give credit where credit is due... The Barons is a good setup, but doesnt offer what Tricky does... the adjustability of the perfect ride for the consumer... Kudos to you and Tricky Air!
