Re:AMA? 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I am a member of the AMA for 3 years, and last year took advantage of the $39 auto renewal deal with Road Side assistance thrown in. I have never needed it, but it is nice to have. MHO is that all of us should be members of the AMA, as they are the strongest lobbying body we have for motorcycling.

It also gets you a discount at some parts/accessory places, like bikebandit.com.

I belong to the AMA and they just started their Roadside assistance. You get the coverage free if you opt. to have your renewal done automatically every year. So for the cost of the $39 membership alone you can get their coverage. It does go anywhere but you are only covered for so many miles. I think it is less than 50 if I remember right. On top of that for the membership price you are a member of the largest motorcycle association and they really do great legal work on the Hill and on the local level as well. The roadside assistance also covers your other vehicles as well.

Here's a paragraph from their website www.ama-cycle.org

Benefits include coverage for bikes, cars, pickups, motorhomes and trailers registered to the member, the member's spouse and dependent children under the age of 24, living at home or away at college; towing up to 35 miles; flat-tire assistance; coverage in all 50 states, plus Puerto Rico and Canada; emergency fuel delivery; up to five dispatched service calls per year; and toll-free assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from two national call centers.

Free Roadside assistance with Rider Insurance
+1

I have Rider Insurance and it comes with free roadside assistance. It includes:
-24 hour emergency towing service 35 miles free, additional out of pocket
-Flat tire assistance
-Battery Assistance
-Essential Fluid Delivery Service
-Locksmith Service
-Trip Routing Services

You can call up to 5 times a year free, no more than once in a 72 hour period.

Rider covered my 01 Roadstar for $222/yr for full coverage, and it came with the roadside assistance free. Well worth it in my opinion.

With all the politicians trying to mess with the ATV folks and all the other off road sports, plus you the road rider, It is in our best interest to protect ourselves from the people in power who might get a letter about the kid down the street that has a habit of doing wheelies down the road every morning. Next thing you know this politician writes up a bill. The AMA keeps tabs on the bills and if you are on there e-mail list will contact you and let you know what is going on, and then give you a way to contact the people that are your reps and let them know how you feel.

I belong to the AMA and also my local ( Massachusetts) motorcycle rights group, the MMA ( Massachusetts motorcycle association) which addresses all the issues in Mass.

If we don't all band together and not just leave it to someone else you're going to see a lot of your rights go south. They have already started with noise control, so look out it's coming.
