Yes, my best wishes to you as well, Dryriver. Here's hoping you heal quickly and fully. Parking a bike is a hard decision, and one that we all have to make sooner or later. I don't have a whole bunch of years left myself, just trying to be as careful as I can at this point. So good luck to you, and God Bless.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Dryriver. I think 2 major accidents like that in 13months is a good reason to park it. I pray for a quick recovery.....maybe the Can-Am is the way to go I rode one and it was a blast!

Man I am sorry to hear about anyone going down. It sucks that this is the way you had to decide to haang it up too. I wish you the best in your future endeavors. When I bout my Roadstar it was from an older (70 year old) guy that had decided to give it up because his sight was just starting to go on him and he said he was reacting a little slower to most things. It was kind of a bummer for me at the time because I knew there would come a day too. Once again glad your still with us and wish you the best for the future.

Trikes aren't so bad, at least you will still be riding. I hope you heal both physically an mentally. That last spill was a mental spill, had nothing to do with your ability.

Can Am Spyder is a cool bike, the trike kits for the Yamaha are cool too.

I dropped my bike 4 times last year, all at low speeds, and not once this year (except the one time it fell over on it's own, I wasn't on it at the time). You learn or leave. at 68 you've begun to doubt your abilities, and the first fall shook your confidence to the core.

I hope you get back in the saddle, at least long enough to beat that nagging voice int the back of your head that's telling you "You can't". There are lots of riders much older, and again, a trike is a hell of an option.

Take care brother! I will add your name to those who I pray for.

Thoughts and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery, DR. Two dumps of that degree would stop someone a third of your age ... so don't blame that (your age). Always be open to those other options mentioned here if you ever decide to get back in the saddle.

God Bless.

Dryriver,

I admire your judgment and respect your decision.

I recently had to give up motocross. My last big crash in 2006 threatened my health and my career, and I decided it just wasn't worth the risk anymore. And you know, it was painful.....very difficult to let go of. I still think about motocross just about every day. But I wanted to let you know, while the first several months were painful, these days when I think about dirt bikes I do so with good memories. I think about the good times, and I'm happy to have logged so many laps on so many tracks. My Road Star is a great outlet for me, but I'll always miss racing in the dirt.

So, maybe a trike or some other form of motorized device will help you transition. But trust that you'll have good memories logged from your time as a biker.

The most important thing is that you'll be safe, though.

Best wishes for a full recovery!

Mike

Sorry to hear of your Mishaps Dryriver. Seeing those pics of you and your pooch always brought me joy. Might carry a dog as a passenger one day myself based on your experiences. A trike might be an option , but then again , if it's time , it's time..... As Roadieff said , you're always welcome here.

G'day dririver... My thoughts are with you brother. Like others have already said we all have to cross the bridge one day.

I would support nobull60's recommendation. I've got two older friends (average age about yours) who have bought Spider Can Am. In fact one of them is coming with me tomorrow on a trip west for 4 days of camping and he's in his 70s. They both have no problem keeping up on our rides and those things attract a lot of attention and good comments from folk whereever we go.

Anyway mate, whatever decision you make I hope you get a lot more enjoyment out of life; and I hope we hear more from you.

Regards
Emu
