#230578 Yakman (User) Expert Boarder Posts: 410 Do I need an oil change? 2 Years, 7 Months ago   It's about that time of the year to put the bike into hybernation for the winter......snow in our area yesterday. I changed the oil and filter in early September prior to a long road trip. Since then I put about 2000 miles on the bike. Should I change the oil (currently using a synthetic) or is it okay to put the bike "to sleep" as is? How about the oil filter? I knew this was going to happen when I changed the oil in September, but didn't want to take a long road trip without fresh oil. Thanks. Just changed the oil and filter couple thousand miles ago and now riding season is pretty much over. Hate to drain new synthetic oil if it's still good. I ride all year short of a couple weeks of snow. Gets colder that the bajeezus though. Does anyone have a suggestion for a engine heater ? I have no garage so she is parked on the porch under a cover until the morning. ( 6:00 am ) Sorry for the thread hijack ! How does it look? I haven't looked at the oil yet, but I suspect is looks pretty good. As you suggested, the miles were put on during a road trip that took place over a 10 day span. Those are pretty easy miles compared to miles spent on shorter trips.
