New Oil, Filter and Gear oil 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Well, it was time for an oil & filter change and while I was at it I did a gear oil/transfer case oil change too because it was due as well. All the old oil came out and 4 fresh quarts of oil went in as well as close to half a quart of gear oil. As I finished cleaning up after a job well done I was emptying the old oil back into the collection container and low and behold the crush washer from the tank drain bolt appeared at the bottom of the oil pan. After a few choice words and a good laugh I got the wife into a standby position holding the washer (she's a great pit crew) and cleaned the drain pan out and then backed the bolt off plugged the hole with my finger like the kid with his finger in the dyke (no comments please) and she put the washer back on and I was able to get it threaded back in fairly quickly and with only about a shot glass of oil escaping.

All is good and the bike is purring, ready for some great winter riding here in AZ. Nights right now are in the mid 70's and the days are still hitting 90's but you can feel that fall coolness creeping in.

Arizona Riding is ALOT BETTER than Upstate NY where I moved from recently...

I just got back from 13 days in AZ. I live in NJ but own a condo in Fountain Hills, I keep my Roadstar out there for when I visit. We did 89a up through Prescott, Jerome, Sedona, to the Canyon, then down 89 and over through Holbrook to Show Low, then down to Globe, back up 87 to Payson, then back home to Fountain Hills. All said and done, in my 12 riding days out there I covered about 2700 miles. We make it an annual trip, my buds from out here rent baggers from Eagleriders, and it's always a blast. You guys have the most amazing scenery and weather!

Well done on the washer reinstall. Good that you found it now instead of on the road.
