31 tooth pulley change? 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I picked up a 31 tooth aluminum pulley by barons, off of e-bay for 82.00. What can I expect for performance difference from the 32? I have done the barons jet kit, BAK, vance and hines, ported the intake, added iridium plugs....She runs fantastic...just don't want to be left behind by a HD without good reason....Also beleive if you can stay away from high compression your bike will remain reliable..
Comments please..

31 tooth will give you low end torque, but you will wish you had a 6th gear on the Hi-way over 70mph. It will practically pull a trailer load of HD's or stumps from the woods.

I got the luggage rack from Clifford, it bolts to the license plate and the rear bolt for the passenger seat. The sissy bar is the Tall Yamaha bar with the tall Ultimate seat passenger back rest. Terri loves the taller sissy bar, especially when I have the luggage on it.

I like that rack very much. I have an '07 and have been told that rack won't fit my bike, but it sure looks like it will. I have a cobra sissybar, mini, which I like very much. Don't care for their rack it's pretty small. Thanks for the info I'll go find clifford about the rack. Ride safe.

I think not..I bought the old style thinking the same thing and had to sell on e-bay because the licence plate bracket is an inch to far away.
Cheers

The 31tooth pulley IMO should have come on the Roadie stock. Just hold on when you drop the clutch. They did a RPM comparison on 32 vs 31 tooth pulley and it was only a few hundred more with the 31. hardly noticable.

You won't need a new belt unless you want one.

sm's got it right. You can switch and keep your belt.

I went from a 33 tooth to a 31 on my '01 and kept my belt, and it definitely pulls better.
