I think I would go with a 167.5 main it's a 1600 and if nothing is changed internal the main you have seems to big. Secondly cleaning sounds in order. Third check the float level and last I would set clip to the the 3rd clip and spacer no washer. PMS go out 2 and adjust out in 1/4 turns. Decel popping after hard decel is normal if you take it away you are detuning it's on mukuni site but it is your ride.

Well your head is spinning with all the post I'm sure best wishes.

Thechromegod: So bases on what your saying. I'm considered lean cause of the pop on decel. Thanks for the tip. Will let you know what the outcome is hopefully tomorrow. gonna grab a pilot jet today hopefully.

thanks makcap: I was going to drop the main down and see what happens. Yeah I heard it's considered detuning but man the backfire and popping is annoying.

You should be able to limit the decel popping to hard decel. If it persist and while the carb is off check the manifold a leak there will also cause popping and a lot more of it.

update: so I dropped in a 167.5 mikuni jet and it gives me the same results.
I also threw in a 195 dyno jet just for the hell of it and got the same results but the exhaust fumes smelled very rich. I also played with the pms on each jet change no real big difference.

I sprayed the exterior of my carb with some carb cleaner to look for leaks and found a leak where my aircleaner meets the mouth of the carb. I changed the o-ring and fixed the leak but backfire not resolved.

did the smoke test on my exhaust and didn't notice any leaks.

right now I have the 167.5 mikuni jet in the bike. when it idels it would occasionally pop blue flames out of one exhaust. The exhuast connected to the front head.

was unable to obtain a 38 pilot yesterday. Gonna call Yamaha today to see if they have it and put it in this Saturday.

Any other suggestions?

I don't and have not disagreed with pilot jet it is a full circuit variable. I would go to the 3 rd clip and just the spacer above the clip. I would also check your float level. When you start up are you using the choke. Does it warm up fairly quick.

currently my needle is on 4th clip. Based on Baron's instructions I have this set up. this is from top of needle(blunt end) going down. metal washer, clip, white spacer, metal washer.

Are you saying that I should take off the metal washers and move the white spacer on to the top of the clip? no metal washers?

If you go from the blunt end count down three place clip and spacer on the clip. You should also check the float level. You have been in there a couple of times and not hard to bump that. The tech section has a lot of info. including float level with pics. You should have to use your choke(enrichment) to start the bike when cold.
