Re:How fast is your roadstar 2 Years, 7 Months ago
My answer to this is quite simple. Fast enough. I have no desire to breach 80mph. I'm not afraid to do so, but the risk vs reward... There really is no reward, and the risk is exponential. If I wanted to go fast, I'd get an R6 or CBR1000. I'm in no hurry though, it's about the ride more so than the destination, I'll get there eventually.

Yeh CPO, I'm with you. I almost never see 70 'cept on the rarest of occasions. You can usually find me doing 40-45 on a back road. Top speed? Don't want to know... but every now and then, I like to be the first one to 60!

There are speed limits that reach 70 where i go. 60 most others, and i have a 5-10mph rule depending on what traffic is doing. I respect the speed limit, but do not want to be mowed by cages.

Re:How fast is your roadstar 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I hit 180ish kph when I only had Stage 3 stock pipes, K&N and a Dynajet kit in it. Oh, and the Silverado windshield no less ! A bit of carb tuning made a large difference from stock.

Now she's got a Roadhouse 2-1, Dyna ignition, no AIS & no fuel pump and it'll go off the speedo at 190+ kph !! The apehangers slowed her down a bit (I make a pretty good parachute apparently) until I put the Switchblade windshield on.

Let me explain though that I only know these numbers because of a few full tilt runs down a long, straight secondary highway that has very little traffic and excellent visibility. This was only done for the purpose of checking tuning and is not something I do every day. However, speed limits in Alberta are some of the highest around (110 kph) and I regularly cruise at 130 or so. I don't really enjoy going much faster than that on the Roadie anyway, she wasn't built for speed. Besides, I've seen 275+ kph on my GSX-R1100 (when I was young and stupid) so whats the point of thrashing my Roadie !!

0 to speed limit in an instant. I just love when a cager is trying to out accelerate me and I just twist the throttle a little bit and leave them in my wake. Good enough for me

Yeah, my Roadie runs faster than I need to go. Anyone who buys a Road Star with the idea of being a speed demon is a) delusional b) bought the wrong bike c) going to be disappointed d) all three.
