new beast 2 Years, 7 Months ago
After messing with the stock carb setup forever, I finally decided to upgrade the careb among some other items. Like ported manifold (speedstar), speedstar 42mm carb, V&H pipes, and the Voes mod, this bike runs like a scalded ape! never have a felt so much power low and mid, ultra scary power high end, pulls like a turbo-diesel cummins engine.
It just keeps pulling until it hits the redline. The bike used to feel lazy. Now....it pulls hard very enthusiastically.

Sounds like some fantastic mods! Next year, I plan to add the HSR 42mm carb also. Can't wait... Congrats on your success!

After the upgrades the bike still felt flat but powerful. So I decided to install the VOES. OMG, it did make a huge difference! Very touchy now. I used to have to wait to get it in the upper revs to get it to move. Now, I just touch the throttle the bike jumps ahead. It's scary to delve into the throttle after 80. It pulls hard and doesnt seem to let go...

Is the VOES required if you install the Dyna 3000?

It's not needed for a dyna, but is helpful if you change to a flatslide carb..

The speedstar module was also an option. But I ran out of upgrade money before I knew it. The VOES had to be the option. But my lights(chk eng) stays on all the time now. the only problem now is, I live on a very quiet street. Starting it wakes up the whole neighborhood at 6:30 in the AM. Going down the street, well that's a tricky issue. My son says he can hear get on the freeway 6 blocks away!

Re:new beast 2 Years, 7 Months ago
A mileage decrease? yes....before Voes...137 miles per tank.
After Voes, 145 miles per tank. Before the upgrade, 144 miles per tank, with bike stock. Brand new te bike was running up to 197 miles until I had to switch to reserve. Then it decline each time I was complaining of performance problems to yamaha about the bike. Finally after 2 years of complaining and yamaha messing it up more, I installed all parts and tuned and the bike runs better than it ever did.
