No Spark 3 and 4 2 Years, 3 Months ago

HELP! I traced the issues with getting this project on track to the ignition module. I bought a new DYNA3000 and got everything re-installed. Now I have spark in the 1 and 2 plug, but no spark in the 3 and 4. I checked the coil and have continuity, but no spark at the plug end. Any ideas? This is the ONLY issue I have before I can finally call this build complete. It's been a year and a half since I have ridden this bike and I am dying to get it on the road.

I'm taking it 3&4 are the rear did you try switching cables to plugs you can also flop the coil. Just suggestion. I would guess you check connectors over already

With the ignition switch on are the feed wires 'hot' from the ignition module?

RayJay, if you are talking about the two feeding the coils?.?.?then, yes! They're hot when the iginition is on.
Some how, when I tore the bike down I created a problem somewhere when I was re-installing the electrics and swicthing over to HD controls. Either that or my original ignition module was going bad before the build and when I changed the controls over the HD, the module created other problems as it went down.
When the problem first came up, I followed the manual for ignition trouble shooting. I metered every wire, switch, and connector for continuity/resistance. When everything hit as it should, the manual indicated that the ignition module is bad. I bought a Dyna3000 and installed everything once more. Then I checked for spark by inserting a testor into the plug socket at the end of the plug wires. When I pushed the starter button to cycle the motor (no gas...don't want it to start yet), the 1 & 2 wires showed power as the engine cycled through those cylinders; 3 & 4 showed nothing....
I have been working on this bike for over a year.

It sounds like you may have a problem with the Dyna 3000 not sending a signal to the coil.
Is there a trouble shooting manual that came with yours?
I would contact them and find out how to trouble shoot the unit for your issue. They may want you to return it for evaluation.

Good times...I charged the battery, turned the key on, checked to see if all four feeds to the coil were hot. Yes. I then pulled each plug wire and inserted a testor probe into the socket while I hit the starter and cycled the engine. All are giving signal, now! However, the right side cylinders are indicated a negative/ground signal(green light on the testor), while the left side are indicating a positive/hot signal (red light on the indicator). I'm not sure, but shouldn't all four be hot?

Checked the Service Manual: There is no indication what the charge is on each plug wire whether pos or neg.
The only *hot* test is where a spark tool is inserted on the plug and into the stock plug cap. The spark length is measured and checked against a chart.
I would think that the charge would be the same with both coil wires. How would a coil discharging through two wires show both pos and neg? They must be on separate circuits inside the coil(?).
Don't you have Dyna coils? Ask them. Dynatek
This is a new one to me.

I think you're right about sepreate circuits in the coil because I get spark on those plugs. Left coil is strong and gives signal every revolution. The right coil is weak and hits every fourth revolution. I switched them to verify and the result is the same. I have one coil that appears weak and the other is strong. I think I have a bad coil. Anyone got a recommendation for good aftermarket coils? I figure I might as well go all out and upgrade those too.
