BEWARE of Helmets Etc., Inc. - RIPOFFS 2 Years, 3 Months ago

BEWARE of Helmets Etc., Inc (http://www.helmetsetc.com/) !!! They are RIPOFFS.

I ordered a couple of helmets, kept one and returned the other for an exchange and was told that that item was out of stock. They said it would be a few weeks before they received the stock. Two months later, they refuse to respond and/or acknowledge any (often repeated) email correspondence whatsoever. I was polite the first several emails and requested a complete refund after a few. They I told them I was going to tell the world if they didn't respond and refund my money. So, it looks like they STOLE my cash!

STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO DO THE SAME! THEY ARE THIEVES!!!

Try calling their customer service department. If they don't give you a satisfactory solution then let them know you are you intend to contact the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Burrow.

That would work if they supplied a legitimate phone #. (DO NOT CALL THIS BOGUS @ 1-800-940-7414)

Instead, should you just so happen to stumble across the toll free number on the credit card example , and I seriously urge everyone NOT to try this, you get transferred to a telephone look-up service that automatically enrolls you for $9.99/month. And the more you attempt to respond STOP to cancel, they just keep texting you back. (http://www.smsvw.com/).

I ordered a helmet from Leatherisbetter.com back in june. After 3 1/2 mo and about 30 phone calls and the same amount of e-mails, which lead no where but "the warehouse said they shipped it two times." During the 3 1/2 mo I contacted the BBB and tried to get them to work it out with the owner. It didnt help, I ended up canceling my order and ordering one off amazon. I let Leatherisbetter know I was canceling and wanted a refund, amazon had the same helmet delivered to me before leatherisbetter had given me my refund back.

I advise everyone to stay away from Leatherisbetter.com. They are horrible with customer care and satisifaction.

Gentlemen, as an attorney, my advice is this, there's no such thing as a good thing. Now that we're in the internet error, people have more options as to where they purchase and naturally, we all look for the most reasonable seller. Beware of any seller that's making an offer that's to good to be true. Check and verify that it's a legit business. Call them up and chat with them before making a purchase. But ultimately, you may want to get a referral prior to making a purchase. I'm sorry that you gentlemen were caught in these scams.

While we're on this topic, here's another company to watch out for: Lido Mounts. Lido Mounts sells GPS mounts for various applications. First order went through fine. Second order...no so much. Credit card was charged and still no product (ordered on 07/28/2009). Rep e-mailed me in August saying they recieved my order but a shipping label was never printed but they would ship immediately (that was 08/19/2009). Now, no one answers calls or replies to e-mails. I referred them after my first order, now I am WARNING you after my second. Looks like they went out of business or my $50 set them up for retirement.

Administrator,
Would it be possible to set up a section here that would list both bad and
good vendor experiences ? I know at the Vxam forum they have a section
and it saved a bunch of us from burning some green.
Thanks,
Chris
