Do not disconnect the throttle Position sensor 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I'm about to start a new project, replacing a carb I drilled a hole into 4 yrs ago.

My bike an 04 1700
I'm all so installing a self ported manifold
I have a hyper charger for my breather

I bought the Barons jet kit and read the Rejet Your Carburetor article and from what I've read from posts I will be changing the main jet to the 170 and setting spacer in the forth position.

my problem starts here
The jetting is not terribly complicated if you remember this:
Do not disconnect the throttle Position sensor from the Carburetor.

The Carburetor I bought from the Road Star forum has the TPS all ready removed so I need to move mine over to the new carb.

What am I in for.... will this be that much harder should I take it to a shop to be done not that I would trust them anymore then my cat to do this job.

Thanks for any help I have a feeling I'm going to need it.

service manual has the info to adjust the TPS (throttle position sensor)

http://www.paulmilner.com/yamaha/handbuch/service_manual_1602_082008.pdf

supplement for the 1700's

http://www.paulmilner.com/yamaha/handbuch/04_supplement.pdf

you can adjust it off the bike, set the resistance for CT (closed throttle)

Thanks Erbman,

This is great, I had this at one point but lost it due to a computer crash, this will help in a lot of projects coming up. I noticed my bike is dripping oil so this will help when I hunt that down to fix it.

Thank again

It's not hard to get set back up. I just moved mine from my stock carb to the HSR 42
