You can get the plain jane 42hsr, lose the fuel pump, uses same
main jets as stock
carb (I prefer mikuni jets, since it is a mikuni carb) only need pull cable, can mod cable end by opening it a bit to fit stock, might need a spacer between carb body and cable brkt to take up some slack. just have to route stock throttle cable a hair different, on the upper tube where the first clip is, don't slip it into there, gives a bit more play since cable has to come in from the side. 42 stock
pilot is fine, comes w/160 main. stock #97 needle w/clip 3rd groove, #70 pump nozzle. have on hand 165, 170, get the #98 needle, and # 50 pump nozzle, Go to Mikuni site and read the Tuning manual.
Suggest use with ported manifold too, if using the stock manifold, shave the 2 stock carb centering nibs off, this will allow for a flatter seating for the 42. Also if using stock manifold clamp, take out the spacer thats on the screw, it's there to prevent over tightening, on the 42 the spigot is a smaller diameter, so spacer needs to go.
also have options for:
VOESm mod.....switches between CT and
WOT curves by vacuum, basically an on off sw.
TPS mod, highly recommended, better than the
VOES mod, better acceleration from a stop, smoother low end, better city mpg
Yost Power tube, helps to better atomize the gas, helps in all ckts, more in mid to wot
recommended dyna3k
also options for air kits under 100bucks that I have found.
This is such a better carb, easier to tune for performance or economy, better performance, I'm quite familiar with this carb,
