What needle/jet settings are you running in yours(42mm)? I remember you posting it sometime back on the RSR

Anyone know if I buy a Carb only ( New HSR42 model- TM42-6 ) will it come with any jet or needle parts at all , and if not will the Jet Kit KHS-025 have everything I need . I cant seem to get that info from Suppliers .

found the kit online, but 100bucks, and all those pieces you won't need either, I ordered from local Yamaha dealer, I don't remember what extra parts came with mine, think it was a pilot jet and 2 mains. 42 uses same mains as stock carb, so if ya got a 160 to 165 you should be fine, stock 42 is the 160, stock carb is a 165, still kept it? The stock pilot is fine in the 42, the stock pump nozzle is too big imo, I'm using the #50 and so are quite a few others, the standard needle is the #97 w/clip on 3rd groove, I'm using the #98 clip 2nd groove. Needle was like 11 bucks, pump nozzle I think about 6 bucks. Go to Mikuni site, download the Tuning manual, back pages will give ya part numbers for the needle and pump nozzles. You can also call mikuni to find out what is each box for a new carb.

If ya buy the carb from them, 75 if not, can still get the 3 or 4 items cheaper that are needed. And they don't tell ya what is in the kit.

Don't know if this helps, but Sudco.com has always been a good source for reasonably priced Mikuni parts.

Re:Got my HSR 42! 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Been very busy and finally getting everything together and I think I'm ready to put this 42 on my bike.

BTW I went to Sudco in person and got my parts (jets etc.) really nice guys there don't get a lot of customers in house. Anyone can call and order any carb parts you need from them they mainly deal with dirt bike and snowmobile carbs.

I ported my manifold correctly this time per Curt's instructions, ground out the notches in the oring grooves and went with oversized orings (3/32 x 2" and soldered up the vent hole (my plug was all cracked up )

I set up my carb with a 98 needle clip on 2nd groove with plastic washer under it, changed out the nozzle from #70 to #50, put a 165 mikuni main jet in and a 25 pilot. Pilot screw 2 turns out. I ordered a Yost power tube but haven't got it yet. I'm too impatient to wait. I modified the carb to accept the stock cables and make a bracket to mount the tps on and I think I'm ready to go.

Guess what I'm doing on my Sat?
