Keep healing Howie. You and your better half got emotionally scarred too, and that also takes time to work through.

Its good to hear you're back on the bike. You have to do whatever you are comfortable with.

Trikes are safer, but to me less fun...I think that for what a trike kit will cost plus your time or the shop's time, you could buy a nice convertible, especially if you're looking at a GW trike! A rider that has spent time learning how to ride a trike will smoke a bike rider in the twisties, but will always have to look for a full car width parking spot

When I'm too old or injured to hold up my bike, there is a long line of sports cars out there waiting for me

Howie
There seem to be a lot of opinions here and I really must say alot of them I don't really care for. Here's my opinion and take it for what's it's worth. I'm building a trike out one of my R*'s as we speak.I think it's the way to go rather then buy something else. You can convert your bike into a trike with reverse for under $10,000. You can't buy a trike for that kind of money. So it only makes sense to convert yours.

G.W. trike is going to cost you a fortune. Trikes are safe I don't care what any one says. You can't compare the old 3 wheel ATV's to a trike that is built for the road. If a trike is built right with the right amount of trail it will handle as well as a motorcycle.

I have been riding legally for 40 years. I have ridden trikes along with motorcycles and I will tell you that before I ever think of giving up my love of being in the wind I will ride a trike. You can't compare a sports car to a motorcycle it's just not the same.

Howie if you truly love to ride convert your motorcycle to a champion trike with reverse. You will be safe on it you won't have to worry about dropping the bike ever again. If I feel safe with the love of my life riding a trike I see no reason why you could not do the same. I fully intend to be riding a trike when the time comes.

Go to www.Ridermagazine.com You can read it there.

Good to hear you are at it again on the question of trikes I test drove the Spider just for fun and riding three wheelers for years I found it to be a good ride .The two wheels up front seems to be the way to go it's real stable and with a 990 cc motor it's a hand full spun the rear tire all the way through the inter-section wasn't real popular with the dealer when I got back They now have the cruser model out, looks good and is built for two up lots of bags and storage good luck

Looking good do you have plans to enclose the rear. Man you beat doc with getting a pic up. I like your bags even if they didn't hold a lot. What type of axle did you go with I know you said some where just forget where. Have you road tested it. I guess you would get two darkside numbers

personally.... id like to see a trike out perform a 2 wheeled bike on the twisties. HIGHLY unlikely... i belive the RIGHT 2 wjeeler can carve the turns at INCREDIBLE rates of speed. ever been to road race? if a trike can do that i'll eat your..........ummm tires.
