Glad to hear you got back on the bike. When you get fully healed, you'll make the decision that's right for you.

I personally don't care for trikes. You can't possibly split lanes with them. Ever get caught in traffic on a hot day? You're screwed! You can only have one passenger, burn more fuel, heavier, harder to park, and they take up a helluva lot more room in the garage. What's the point?? Might as well get a cage....

Re:I got back on 2 Years, 6 Months ago
We had a rider (in his 70's) go down on a ride once riding an 1100 vstar. It took him over a year to recover (crushed his leg in a twisty). Some friends talked him into putting on training wheels (not a true trike). Anyway, a few months later, he was on a ride with our Star T&R chapter, he tried to avoid a spot of dirt in the road, lost control of the bike, flipped over the windshield, the bike road over him. Within about 2 months he had died from complications.

He should never have gotten back on the bike. But that was him, he was old and never right after that first accident.

As others have said, you'll know. You have to make the decision that is right for you. Good Luck!

Ok so you don't like trikes. Why in the world would you split lanes anyway That is dangerous riding! Get in the emergency lane and get off at the fist exit!
You can only have one passenger!Well that's all you can have on a motorcycle!

Why would you deny a person of being in the wind because they have 2 wheels in the back. Is a trike rider not equal to you cause you can hold up a heavy 2 wheel motorcycle?
Because of my love for riding in the wind I'm trying to help Howie understand that if he loves that feeling then do it on a trike and convert his into a trike which would save him a ton of money. We all know how good our R*'s are.
But don't think for 1 minute that your lesser of a person cause you ride a trike!!!
And who cares if it takes up a little more room and uses a little more fuel. Why should you have to drive in a car rather then be on 3 wheels??
I don't understand why you would say that to a fellow rider???

I didn't post this to hurt anyone's feelings. (If I did, I apologize.) When I talk about lane splitting, I ONLY do it when traffic is stopped, red lights, etc. I have ridden trikes in the past, and just felt uncomfortable on them. I am glad Howie is getting better and has the passion to get back in the saddle. As I said, I did not mean for my post to be taken in the wrong context. It was just an opinion...

Okay. Some like trikes, other don't. That's life. Howie, you do what you feel is right for you. You and your better half are the only two who know what will or will not work for you. Just keep mending and don't push it too fast my friend.

Somebody earlier in a trike thread mentioned Champions trike kit is available with a reverse?? ...I called the tech dept, they had no knowledge of it being avaiable for a Roadstar...
the only one they sold was for a Harley Davidson....
and it was mechanical.. looks like it replaces the mouse trap cover on the gearbox??
maybe some other trike kit company has a reverse for R/S?

Mike....

I rode that trike in Sturgis about 3 years ago. All I can say is impressive. The problem is that complete set up would cost more then the R* cost new out the dealer door.
