If you had $1000 to $1200 2 Weeks, 5 Days ago
with winter comming on we wont have much more riding time here in northern Indiana
so im thinking about some performance mods
i did the satge 2 thing to the stock pipes.....but wondered what some of you guys might recomend to get my 2003 silverado runing just a bit better
with in the 1000 to 1200 mark
if there is a point where it really would benifit from spending more..then as long as reliability is not compromised ..i may spend more

so please enlighten me with recomendations

I'd get a better breathing air filter of your choice, some pipes (2 into 1 seem to be the best performers) and port the manifold (cost $0) and iridium plugs. Then with the left over money, get an air ride shock!
Edit: Forgot the jet kit for the new air filter.

I would do the air ride first next time around. But that doesn't make you go faster.

guess it all depends on how big a bag of chips you like!
mine's an 03 midnight. remove the ais, @4200rpm a 1600cc pumps 130cfm. the wimmer stack i got flows 230cfm with the #80 mesh screen. big air flow both in & out makes most of the performance difference. this particular engine/year has a 45Lb crank so she doesnt rev as fast as other R*'s do but she luggs beautifully, and well lets just say i go >35/55/80 hittin the rev limiter in third @ what seems like ~ 5-6 seconds. no problem at all with that, after all mine's pushin ~800Lbs on the scale. rides like a benz.

you will want a heavier clutch spring too, especially if you loose a front tooth or 2. and stiffening the rear gets a better plant at launch.

if your weather is hot an oil cooler might be an alternative part choice. http://www.wimmermachine.com/

a cheap upgrade for the 1600 is fitting a 2nd hand ignition module from the 1700.

raises the rev limit to 4800 (+/-), and has better programming than the 1600 unit. plugs sraight in using the same connectors.

noticeable difference
